Delegates from Hyperspectral Remote Sensing Lab attended the 35rd Asian Conference On Remote Sensing
The 35th Asian Conference On Remote Sensing was held in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, on October 27 - 31, 2014. The theme of the conference this year is “SENSING FOR REINTEGRATION OF SOCIETIES”. A total of 415 registered representatives from 32 countries and regions attended this conference. This event was jointly organized by ACRS Local Organizing Committee of Myanmar and Asia Association on Remote Sensing (AARS).
On behalf of the Hypersepctral Remote Sensing (HRS) Lab, Prof. Lifu ZHANG, Dr. Hang YANG, PHD student Hengqian ZHAO and postgraduate student Tingting SHI attended the meeting. During the five-day event, the delegation conducted academic exchanges in the form of academic reports, interviews, and a technical exhibition. At the opening ceremony, the Chen Shupeng Prize was presented to Prof. Qingxi Tong. He had been chosen as the prize winner by the Asian Association on Remote Sensing and the Chinese National Committee for Remote Sensing through recommendation and appraisal. This prize, funded by the Chinese National Committee for Remote Sensing, was established at the 32nd Asian Conference on Remote Sensing for the purpose of rewarding experts who have made outstanding contributions to Asia’s remote sensing cause. In the cultural show session, by performing a show combining both modern and classical Chinese styles, China won the golden price competing with other 7 teams. Tingting SHI was the main performer, while Hang YANG and Hengqian ZHAO also joined the show. Prof. Lifu ZHANG gave importance guidance during the preparation stage.
The Asian Association on Remote Sensing holds an Asian conference on remote sensing annually. From 1980 to the present, a total of 35 conferences have been staged. As one of the world’s major conferences on remote sensing, the Asian Conference on Remote Sensing serves as an important platform on which Asian countries and regions or even the whole world conduct academic exchanges in remote sensing and related fields. The 36th Asian Conference on Remote Sensing will take place in Manila, Philippines in 2015.
